Who is responsible for your information

Fable & Frontier Publishing is a trading name of T101 Group Ltd. T101 Group Ltd is the data controller for personal information collected through fnfbooks.co.uk and any author websites we run on the same platform.

Questions or requests about your data: hello@fnfbooks.co.uk.

What we collect

WhoInformation
CustomersName, email, phone (optional), delivery and billing addresses, order history, your account password (stored only in scrambled form).
BookshopsThe above plus shop and company name, VAT and company numbers, credit and payment history on the trade account.
AuthorsThe above plus pen names, the profile you publish (bio, photo, links), bank details for royalty payments, and the record of royalties and statements.
EveryoneMessages you send us, and technical information our servers log when you use the site (such as IP address and browser type) to keep it secure.

We do not see or store full card numbers. Card payments are handled by Stripe, which processes them under its own privacy policy.

Why we use it, and our legal basis

  • To take and deliver orders, and run trade and author accounts — to perform our contract with you.
  • To pay royalties, keep accounts and meet tax rules — legal obligation.
  • To prevent fraud and keep the site secure, and to check trade applications (for example against Companies House and HMRC's VAT checker) — our legitimate interests.
  • To send news about books — only if you have asked to receive it. You can unsubscribe at any time.

Who we share it with

Only the companies we need to provide our service, each bound to protect it:

  • Stripe, for payments.
  • Our printing partner (Mixam) and delivery companies, who need your name and address to print and send your order.
  • Amazon Web Services, which hosts our website and database in London.
  • Our accountants and professional advisers, and HMRC or other authorities where the law requires it.
  • For author websites: the author sees the names and order details for sales of their own books, so they can understand their royalties. They may not use them for anything else.

We never sell your information.

How long we keep it

  • Order, payment, royalty and trade records: six years after the end of the financial year they relate to, as tax law requires.
  • Accounts you close: deleted or anonymised within 90 days, apart from records we must keep.
  • Server logs: up to 90 days.

Cookies

We only use cookies the site needs to work: to keep your basket, keep you signed in, and remember your region. We do not use advertising or tracking cookies. If we ever add analytics, we will ask first.

Your rights

You can ask for a copy of your information, ask us to correct or delete it, object to or restrict how we use it, or ask for it in a portable format. Email hello@fnfbooks.co.uk and we will reply within one month.

If you are not happy with how we handle your information you can complain to the Information Commissioner's Office at ico.org.uk, though we would like the chance to put it right first.

Changes

We will update this page if how we use information changes, and tell account holders about significant changes.
